Meni-one Co., Ltd. (address: Miyuki Business Park Building No.4, 390 Ichibagi-cho, Nishi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan; President: Tomoaki Honda), a distributor of medical devices and supplements specializing in veterinary medical care, will start to sell “Meni-one Corneal-Bandage one” contact lenses used for the treatment of dogs and cats (*1) to veterinary hospitals in Thailand.
"Meni-one Corneal-Bandage one” is a general “veterinary" medical device expected to demonstrate a bandage effect by protecting the cornea from external stimuli and dryness, alleviating pain, and promoting epithelial regeneration. The lenses have blue and white dots to provide improved visibility, which makes them easy to see on severely clouded corneas, and are available in four sizes of L, M, S, and XS according to the size of the cornea.
In Japan, these have been marketed as therapeutic contact lenses since November 2002. More than 30,000 pieces have been sold since the expansion of its specification in 2015. In recent years, we have been focused on expanding our overseas sales channels by using the knowledge accumulated in Japan.
After the launch in China in 2016, the product has been sold in Singapore and Malaysia. We have launched this product through the Thai agent, Mlifemed (*2), to expand in the rapidly growing pet market in the ASEAN countries. In Thailand, the number of pets has gradually increased due to the rising purchasing power in the middle-income group and an aging population with fewer children. According to the Thai Pet Product Industries Association (TPIA), since 2011, the pet market in Thailand has been growing at an average of 10% annually.
