Menicon traces its history back to 1951 when we developed the first corneal contact lens in Japan. Since then, Menicon has stayed true to its company philosophies of “Creation” “Originality” and “Challenge” and has dutifully led the industry as a pioneer contact lens company.

Along our journey, we have developed local subsidiaries and conducted prudent M&A acquisitions to create a more global business. As a result, we currently have production, sales, and logistics footholds across the world, enabling us to provide people globally with safe and secure but also unique products.

While Menicon tirelessly aims to provide the world with safe and high-quality contact lenses, the global myopia population is rapidly increasing with estimates suggesting that 50% of the world population to have myopia by 2050. The increase in myopia among younger people and prevalence of high myopia is becoming a global health issue. Under Menicon’s company slogan of “Contributing to society by providing superior visual correction”, we pledge to tackle these health issue head on.

Moreover, as a global company, we believe that it is our responsibility to protect our environment and create a sustainable world and achieve our goal of a “Healthy and spiritually rich society”. Finally, using our technology, skills, and experience that we have developed over the decades through our “Craftsmanship”, we will increase our corporate value and image by expanding beyond vision care and operating our business around satisfying people’s five senses.
