Presented by MD, PhD. Takahiro Hiraoka (Unversity of Tsukuba, Japan)
Orthokeratology (OK) is the only therapy officially approved in Japan. Dr. Hiraoka introduced his previous study with Japanese children and the recent work to investigate the efficacy of OK in the long term. He also explained the differences in the level of evidence referencing various articles. Furthermore, he examined the appearance of OK lenses and found deposits and bacterial adhesion. He quantitatively evaluated deposits and the effect of cleaners in worn OK lenses.
