Menicon SC GmbH was founded in March 2024 and is strategically located in Offenbach am Main – in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt International Airport and all major national and international transport providers. Across a warehouse area of over 5,000 m², around 70 employees are currently working to ensure a reliable supply of Menicon contact lenses to customers. The company is certified to ISO 13485.

The new automation system has been instrumental in realising the guiding principle of a fast, efficient and secure supply chain. From storage to dispatch, processes will in future be supported and accelerated by state-of-the-art robotics and intelligent software solutions. The new technology enables more efficient workflows, enhances process reliability and supports staff in their day-to-day operations. The aim is to create a highly efficient, secure and fast distribution centre that optimises the entire supply chain from start to finish and offers customers excellent delivery performance.

The journey leading up to the plant’s commissioning was characterised by intensive development and project work. It took a total of four years to select suitable technology partners and to design and install the complex automation solutions.

Going forward, Menicon will continue to strengthen its supply system at its European logistics hub, delivering stable, high-quality contact lenses to customers across the EMEA region.

Koji Kawaura, President and CEO of the Menicon Group, and other members of the board of directors travelled from Japan to Offenbach for the official opening. Together with Managing Director Nikolaos Balauras, the facility was officially opened at a ceremony attended by all staff members.

Today’s opening is a significant step for our future development and a strong sign of innovation, efficiency and customer focus,” explained Managing Director Nikolaos Balauras during the event. “With this new automation, we will continue to develop and adapt to our customers’ needs. The foundations for further growth have now been laid.
