Menicon Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Menicon”; President and CEO: Koji Kawaura) and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co., Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “Chubu Electric Power Miraiz”; President & Director: Hironori Kamiya) announced today (April 14, 2025) that they have concluded an agreement on the introduction of off-site PPA service*1 using a solar power plant dedicated to Menicon (hereinafter referred to as “this service”).
In this service, Chubu Electric Power Miraiz will supply electricity procured from a solar power plant newly installed in Gifu Prefecture (total panel output: approximately 980 kW; expected annual power generation: approximately 1.1 million kWh) to the Menicon Kakamigahara Plant (Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture) and the Seki Plant (Seki City, Gifu Prefecture).
The solar power plant to be used for this service will start its operation after June 2025. Menicon will be able to stably procure electricity derived from renewable energy from the solar power plant dedicated to Menicon for the next 20 years, the contract period with Chubu Electric Power Miraiz.
In addition, the Menicon Kakamigahara Plant and the Seki Plant have used 100% “Gifu Seiryu Green Electricity”*2 provided by Chubu Electric Power Miraiz since November 2024.
Menicon will switch a part of the electricity that has been shifted into renewable energy by “Gifu Seiryu Green Electricity” to electricity derived from the solar power plant dedicated to Menicon in this service. Thus, we will further contribute to the “additionality” of renewable energy.
Furthermore, Alpha Corporation Inc. (President: Masamichi Kanegae), a group company of Menicon, introduced “Shinshu Green Electricity”*3 provided by Chubu Electric Power Miraiz to their Ina Office (Minamiminowa-mura, Kamiina-gun, Nagano Prefecture) at a rate of 100% on April 12, 2025.
As a result of these initiatives, all the electricity used at the Menicon Kakamigahara Plant, the Seki Plant, and the Alpha Corporation Ina Office is derived from renewable energy, and the Menicon Group is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by a total of approximately 9,000 tons per year.
Both the Menicon Group and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz will continue to work toward the realization of a carbon-neutral society by selecting and using electricity derived from renewable energy and contributing to the “additionality” of renewable energy.

*1 A service to supply electricity from solar power generation equipment installed outside the premises through electric power system equipment.
*2 A service to supply electricity from 100% renewable energy without CO2 emission generated in Gifu Prefecture using environmental values derived from the renewable energy power source of the hydroelectric power plant in Gifu Prefecture owned by the Chubu Electric Power Group.
