Menicon Awarded the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon (Certificate of Commendation) of Japan

MeniconCo., Ltd. (Head Office: 21-19 Aoi 3, Naka-ku, Nagoya; Director, President and CEO: Koji Kawaura) announces that it has received the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon (certificate of commendation)*1 from the Cabinet Office of Japan, in recognition of its donation made in November 2024 to Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, under the Utilization Project for Hometown Tax Donations under the “Community, People, and Work Revitalization” Initiative (Corporate Version*2).

The Seki Plant of Menicon was established in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, in 1984 and is one of the Company’s principal manufacturing sites. The Plant marked its 40th anniversary of operations last year. As a token of appreciation to Seki City, where Menicon has conducted business activities over many years and where many of its employees have made their homes, the Company made a donation through the Corporate Hometown Tax Donation program.

At the presentation ceremony of the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon, held at Seki City Hall on February 19, 2026, a certificate of commendation was presented to Mr. Hidenari Tanaka, Honorary Chairman of Menicon, by Mr. Kiyoshi Yamashita, Mayor of Seki City, who commented, “Menicon employs many people who are raising children, including at its Seki Plant. Seki City will utilize this generous donation to further our efforts to create an environment that enables families to raise their children with peace of mind.”

Menicon will continue to provide customers with better vision, the joy of clear sight, and the excitement of seeing, through the manufacture of products that customers can use with confidence.

 *1: Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon
The Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon is awarded to individuals or organizations that have made substantial private donations for the public good (JPY 5 million or more for individuals, and JPY 10 million or more for organizations). In the case of organizations, the award takes the form of a certificate of commendation.
The award is conferred following a review process based on recommendations from relevant ministries and government agencies.
Eligible donations include those made to the national government, local governments, or officially recognized public-interest organizations.

A system promoted by the Office for Promotion of Regional Revitalization, Cabinet Office, under which corporate donations to regional revitalization initiatives implemented by local governments contribute to the development and sustainability of local communities.
