Menicon Co., Ltd. (Head Office: 3-21-19, Aoi, Naka-ku, Nagoya; President and COO Koji Kawaura) announced that it has acquired 100% of the shares of the HUMAX Group, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary on March 22, 2024. Laboratoires Dencott SA (hereinafter called Dencott), an operating company of the HUMAX Group (Head Office: 217 Rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris; Representative: Sylvie Fiancette; Number of employees: approx. 20), is a French company that provides fitting services and sells specialty contact lenses* (hereinafter "specialty lenses") .
Dencott was founded in 1955 and has been providing fitting services for mainly specialty lenses in the French market, and Ocellus SAS, an affiliated company of the Group, has been manufacturing and distributing these specialty lenses.
Menicon established the first overseas local corporation in France in 1977, and has been providing products and services related to contact lenses, including specialty lenses, ever since. Menicon has had a strong presence in specialty lenses in France for many years. As a leading company in the area, Menicon will continue providing high quality services and strengthening relationships with ophthalmologists through the provision of fitting support/services. Thus, striving to disseminate of specialty lenses.
Though Menicon has been committed to promoting myopia control business mainly in China, Menicon is planning to introduce Menicon Bloom™, a holistic treatment plan for myopia management, fitting services and sales to Dencott as well.
With the acquisition of shares, Menicon will obtain a new platform for the fitting of specialty lenses, expand its business area, and achieve further growth both in France and globally.
