NAGOYA, Japan--Menicon Co., Ltd. announced today an agreement with W.I. System Inc. that will turn one of Japan's leading contact lens retail chains into a wholly owned subsidiary of Menicon on December 8th. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Tokyo area-based W.I. System with annual gross sales of USD 130 million ranks fourth in contact lens retail sales in Japan.
Initial rollout in Japan heralds new convenience and functionality for contact lens wearers.
NAGOYA, Japan, November, 01.- Menicon Co., Ltd. announced today "Magic," a daily disposable contact lens packaged in a revolutionary wafer-thin and exceptionally hygienic flat-pack, which will be introduced at the company's Magic Store concept shop in Tokyo, Japan on November 7. Nationwide marketing in Japan will begin next spring.
Nagoya, Japan, 31 October 2011 – Menicon Holdings BV and Eye Shelter SA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Laboratoires Thea, a France-based independent ophthalmic group, announced on October 31 that Menicon is to become Eye Shelter's exclusive partner to market the SOLO-care® contact lens solutions range in member states of the European Economic Area and Canada.
The agreement will enable Menicon to significantly strengthen its geographical presence by establishing new affiliates in countries where Menicon products have not been available, particularly markets in the Nordic countries, Eastern Europe and Canada. Upon completion of the expansion, Menicon will have more than 70 sales professionals dedicated to the contact lens business in Europe alone. The company expects to reach considerably more eye care practitioners with a broader range of products, and thereby better meet the needs of contact lens wearers across Europe and in Canada as well.

Menicon Co., Ltd. announced on September 1 major reorganization in its international operations and creation of a new global management team in Menicon Holdings B.V. located in The Netherlands. The changes, effective immediately, will fundamentally reorganize the company's non-Japanese entities to accelerate the introduction of innovative new products and services to support Menicon's growing contact lens and related businesses.
NAGOYA, japan, Aug. 23.- Menicon Company Ltd. announced on August 23 the appointment of Dr. Jennifer Choo as Manager of Specialty Lens Clinical Affairs for Menicon Holdings B.V. Dr. Choo will oversee the company's Rose K business while also handling professional and clinical affairs for the company's growing specialty lens portfolio.
For the last 3 years, Dr. Choo has been Project Leader at Adventus Technology Inc. and the Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI) based in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Choo has led and managed international and interdisciplinary teams in the development of innovative surgical ophthalmic products. She previously served as Project Director for Orthokeratology Research at BHVI while completing her PhD.
